"We have experienced tremendous increases in demand for Windsor chain
and this was one of the many steps we needed to take in order to meet that increased
demand" commented Paul Wade Windsor's Product Coordinator. "The crux of the
activity was to move all punch press, heat treat and plating equipment and their
processes from our remote facility in Dyer to our main facility in Milan.
The immediate impact was a savings of not having to move parts over the 20
miles from Dyer to Milan. We were also able to recondition our existing equipment
and add some additional capacity. Having everyone together in the same manufacturing
facility will also improve our communication and really mean a concentrated effort by
everyone involved to increase our chain output to meet our ever growing customer demand."
The physical move which began in February was completed in April with very little impact
on production or delivery, is a testament to the excellent teamwork and extensive planning
of the Windsor project team. "It was a tremendous accomplishment to not miss a beat
in production while you are moving your manufacturing equipment and processes"
added Scott Sander, Windsor's Sales and Marketing Director.
"This is the biggest event and largest investment in this facility since Windsor's
acquisition by Blount Inc. in the year 2000 commented Pat Gerard Windsor President. "
We are pleased to see the entire chain production process under one roof and the consolidation
allows us to streamline our chain production to achieve significant productivity gains."
